Approximately 7h30 – 13h00, Mombasa is situated on an island and is the oldest town in Kenya. It is the most significant port in the country with a history going back almost 2,000 years. The excursion starts with the visit of the former garrison Fort Jesus, which was built by the Portuguese in 1593. Today it is a museum and the Old Town’s major attraction. After walking around to see Old Mombasa with its picturesque corners, you are driven to see New Mombasa. You visit the spectacular Hindu Lord Shive Temple, stroll along Moi Avenue, may buy some souvenirs and take a photo from the famous Tusks crossing the two lanes. They were built in 1952 to commemorate the visit of the former Princess Elizabeth. The morning ends with a visit of the Akamba Village where dozen of artists create wooden carvings as Makonde and masks. Return to your hotel for lunch.
