The Shimba Hills run parallel to part of the South Coast Mombasa and can be reached in about one hour from there. The reserve, which covers 1,992km2, is best known as being the only place in Kenya where the rare sable antelope lives. There are also buffalo, roan antelope, elephant, and gazelle at home. Very seldom, however, predators can be observed.
Beginning of the afternoon, pick-up from your hotel and drive to the Shimba Hills National Reserve, which is covered by a beautiful forest and hills, a refreshing contrast to the coast. In the late afternoon, you arrive at your lodge, a stunning tree house ingeniously built into the forest! Dining room and bar overlook the floodlit waterhole and offer a unique observation point. Dinner and overnight.game drive the next morning, before you return to Mombasa for lunch.
